I’m a bit pressed for time today, so it’s back to talking about spam again, I’m afraid.
Today, my spam is wishing people good morning. “Good Morning Eugene”, reads one header. Other messages wish good morning to Elvis, Wilbur, Andrea, Eloise, Sonia, Marta, Orville, Alberta, Mohammad, Malcolm, Deana and Frederick. And, since the messages just started coming this afternoon, I’ll soon be sent good morning wishes for about 38 other people. Now, isn’t that just giving me a warm feeling all over.
And I wish that spammers would learn to spell. Here’s some more subject headers:
Wholsale and retail inquiries welcome.

Fw: Obtain degrees from Prestigious non-accredtied Universities
And, one that regularly shows up:
We cure any desease!
While I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade, I feel compelled to point out here that non-accredtied [sic] Universities can’t possibly be Prestigious.
But the best spam subject header of the day, and possibly of all time, is this one:
Viagra Soft Tabs will give your dick enough strength to fight a shark
I think I can sell this one as a movie idea: “Jaws 6: This Time, It’s Really Personal.”
Here’s something kind of cool, courtesy of Metafilter: restored excerpts from clergyman Ralph Josselin’s diary, which he kept from 1617 to 1683. This may give him the title of World’s First Blogger. By comparison, according to Technorati, I am currently ranked 2,323,552nd. Ha! Eat my dust, Mister 2,323,553! Feel my awesome writing power!
The Globe reports today that the United States Secret Service was secretly bugging Princess Diana’s phone without approval from the British secret service. When I read this, my first thought was, “Why?” Then it occurred to me: she was an attractive woman, and I’ll bet that the eavesdroppers were men. Like, duh.
One more reason why I love living in Canada (there are about 897 of them): yesterday, according to Environment Canada, Toronto’s temperature soared to 8.6C. And we were all ridiculously happy. In how many other places in the world would people think that this was wonderful weather?
For some reason, this reminds me of advice I read somewhere: the best way to start your day is to eat a live toad. The reasoning is this: if you manage to do that, anything else that happens to you is bound to be an improvement.
